CSWJ Call to Meeting

June 9-11, 2009
Boston, MA

» Final Agenda

From: Joe Fahey (Chair), and Mary Priniski, OP, (Executive Secretary)

On behalf of the Steering Committee, we are writing to cordially invite you to attend a CSWJ Assembly to be held at the Labor Guild, Weymouth MA and other greater Boston locations. This meeting will have two tracks: INFORMATION and ACTION

  1. INFORMATION: Three plenary sessions that deal with (1) Catholic labor history, (2) Catholic Social Teaching on the human rights of Workers, and (3) the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) and other forms of labor legislation that CSWJ should support.
  2. ACTION: Three workshop sessions in which you are invited to make a presentation of your (1) research/publications, (2) ideas for popular publications and op-eds on EFCA and other labor issues, (3) strategies to support workers in their quest for justice in the workplace and our wider economic order.

COST and VENUE: Please seek support from your college/university or community for this meeting. We will be happy to write a personal letter that invites you to make a presentation or to deliver a paper (or work in progress) for this meeting. We will make every attempt to subsidize this meeting to keep costs at a minimum (we expect, for example, to provide all meals). We expect to stay at a local hotel and will seek other low cost housing. We will send the details once we know how many will participate in the Assembly.

Please let us know if you plan to attend this important meeting.
Send name, title, institution and indicate if you would like to make a presentation.
